• Change in the Definition of a Registered Dental Hygienist. In 2011 the Tennessee Legislature unanimously passed a bill that updated the definition of a Registered Dental Hygienist.  To read the updated definition, click here and scroll down the page to Public Chapter 132.
• Change in General Supervision for all Dental Hygienists in the state of Tennessee. The time period between the examination of a patient by a supervising dentist and the service provided by a dental hygienist has been extended from seven (7) months to eleven (11) months.
